What if the whole forest could live in your courtyard?

Sunn Nest is an ongoing exploration of what it means to design with a landscape rather than upon it.
Set amongst the gently sloping hills of Thandikudi in the Palani Hills, the project occupies a quarter-acre site defined less by its boundaries than by its mature trees, changing light and distant views. Rather than beginning with a building, the design began by understanding the existing relationships on the site—between the terraces, the vegetation, the climate and the ways people might inhabit them over time.
Can architecture participate in the relationships that already exist within a place?
